Out on the Western Front

Western themed park, anyway.

Ry and I haven't really taken anything worthwhile recently, well, let alone recently to warrant a post, so sorry for the delay.  We went out to Coppell Nature Park on Monday and finally got some shots in.  Some not too half bad, either.
Ryan was playing with the 40mm pancake lens with great results. He got a lot of great crisp shots.  I'll let him post those when he gets around to it.
Per usual, I took a retarded amount of pictures and ended up with a small handful that I really liked, but that's normal for me and I think I end up with more good ones this way then if I were to always wait for the best shot.

I wish this came out better

This one was a little more out of focus than I'd have liked.

I really liked this one.

Neat plants.

Neat weather vane.  I took a few more of this, too.

Portrait Work

Elyce and I went to Addisson, TX to work on some portraits with her Canon T3i.  We were both shooting with the same gear.

Numb3rs

Elyce here:
A few trail markers were a little interesting.  A few came out ok and a couple were a bit out of focus. So. Snarl.

Such a weird and lonely little fire hydrant in the middle of the woods off the park.

Experience

Elyce here,
The weather minus a very overcast sky was absolutely gorgeous today.  It was really quite comfortable to be at the park.  Now, these aren't going to win any awards and frankly, I was just enjoying the experience of being out and working my camera.  These are good technically, but I think otherwise boring. But, practice makes perfect, right?

I'll be honest, I should have further post edited this one further in Photoshop. I was just lazy.  :P

Sunset

Elyce here,

Just wanted to post a couple sunset shots I took a few days ago.  They're not fantastic, I just like them.  They're grainy, out of focus, and just fun.

Denton on the Square

Elyce again.  We went down to the square today, down in Denton.  I wanted go play around the courthouse and just see what there is to see.  I think the day turned out quite well, actually.  I didn't get nearly as many out of focus shots this time and was again in full manual mode.  I'm quite pleased with the lot.

Ryan took his camera, too, but he has a headache tonight and hasn't gotten them to me so I just thought I'd go ahead and post mine for now.  It was actually really interesting to see the same subject taken by two very different styles and approaches.

Courthouse clock

Of the keepers, this is the only one that's out of focus.  Ticked me right off.

This is part of a mural painted on the side of one of the shops off the square.  I wasn't able to get the artists signature in the shot I wanted, but you can find the full mural image at the artists website: http://www.mickburson.com/

I love this old truck.  Ryan got some really neat shots of it, too

so neat.

Close up on the truck.  I had to get a close up on "Dallas".

Super subtle post editing on this one.  I didn't really do much to it.

A few post editing changes and playing this time around. Tried somethings I haven't before.  And another addition is the watermark.  I figured I might as well tag them.  Even if they're just for practice and learning, they're still mine and I'm proud of them.

Overall, I think it was a really productive day, photography wise.  I feel good about my progress.  Can't wait to get out again soon!

Like a Boss

I just couldn't help myself.  This fat little squirrel was as still as a statue and let me walk all around him.  He's just chilling on a branch like a boss.

love it.
